so I never want to do things the "right" way again since doing it so really got me off track and forced me to see the world's ugliness in a way I wish I never had. so I seek out things that are familiar to me and places that have a good vibe, hoping that with a certain amount of effort expended towards soul care it will eventually manifest itself as life care as well.

croton point

so lately i've been exploring all these places i never got to when i was younger, at least not as much as i would have liked. there are so many sections of croton point park, there's the big beach across from half moon bay right next to the park on the water with the benches and huge willow trees, there are the cabins and the trailers in the back, along with outdoor barbecues and a museum as well. this time i went to the park with the pavilion on the otherside of the river looking up to the tappan zee bridge and the New York City skyline. it was warm but breezy, the waves were choppy, and I watched a beautiful sunset.

sunday on green street

so in the quest for trying something new i decided to skip my usual eatery which is consistently good and opt instead for a place i had never tried before. went in preparing to get a takeout of their grass-fed cheeseburger when the waiter convinced me to have a seat. the atmosphere was laid-back and reminded me a bit of south beach miami, with an old art deco feel and vintage woodwork. the food was great and worth checking out.

" a bit of glam and yesteryear"

as a woman sometimes you become a target for harassment of a sexual nature, in many degrees, with advertising, the glorification of the ideal feminine form, sexism, ageism, unequal pay, in my exploration of this i uncovered a great setting for a woman's response to the playboy mansion, in a historic structure that was once occupied by sexually pioneering feminists mabel dodge luhan, louise bryant and edna st. vincent millay. these women, not your typical sexpots, were incredibly self assured of their desires and took control of their lives and their sexuality, free from the constraints of social norms, which at the turn of the century when they lived were especially strict and enforced. known as emboding the idea of the "new woman," their curiosity and observations about themselves and what was happening in the world, (all three were accomplished writers in their own right) influenced their own work as well as others and left an enduring legacy that still inspires today.

spring!

warm weather is finally here! so nice to go outside without layers of clothing and seeing everything in bloom. it has been one long cold winter with lots of snow so hopefully only bright sunny days ahead.
